GalleryHere is some images and video. Click on the thumbnails to view larger images. Enjoy the show! The newer videos require the Divx 5 video codec and mp3 audio to play back properly. I believe that most players support mp3 audio so that should not be a problem. The video codec can be found at http://www.divx.com/divx/. You can also just click the "Divx" badge below to go to their site. While they do charge for their premium product, the free version will work just fine. Once you download and install the codec, you should be able to view the videos in your regular player (such as Windows Media Player).

Preparing for the 2003 SeasonComparison between last years nearly worn out Kumho ECSTA 712 (205/45-16) and this years Falken Azenis Sport (215/45-16). The Falken is not available in as many sizes as the Kumho. This 16" size is the closest I could find to what I wanted. While it is a wider tire, I do get some rubbing at opposite lock and the tire is heavier than the Kumho. I can definitely feel the weight difference. Also with the extra width (usually a good thing), the overall diameter is every so slightly larger than the Kumho. Along with the weight, this increase in overall gearing does not work well for me. However, the grip level on the Falken is much higher than the Kumho in the dry. I believe the wet performance is very close and maybe even the Kumho might be better due to it's tread design in some situations (heavy standing water). One extra plus of the Kumho is that I never had to change the tire out. I drove on the street daily and autocrossed on one set of tires for over a year. I am pretty sure that I will not have enough tread to both drive on the street and autocross on the Falken. This is sad in that the STS class was targeted at those who could run a true street tire without the need to swap tires. Street tire development has reached a level that while the Falken meets the letter of the rules for STS street tires, it really is much closer to an 'R' type tire. Many feel that the Falken UTQG tread wear rating of 200 is pretty bogus and is actually somewhere between 80 and 100 with 'R' tires being 50 or less.
